Introduction

HoriSol is an iOS app that measures the annual shading of a balcony solar panel right at the balcony and calculates the realistic yearly yield based on location, panel orientation, and the measured shading profile.

When is HoriSol useful?

• Before buying — Is balcony solar even worth it at my location?
• Choosing a spot — Which corner of my balcony gets the most sun?
• After installation — Does the measured yield match expectations?

What do you need for a HoriSol measurement?

• A smartphone with camera and compass (you can also enter your location via address search — GPS is optional)
• The intended panel location (e.g. a specific railing)
• About 2 minutes
